CPD Certificates for 2023

Certificates for your education session attendance at the Scottish Dental Show 2023 have been emailed to the email address you used to register for the Show.

The education programme at the Scottish Dental Show 2024 can provide up to 10 hours of verifiable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in compliance with the General Dental Council’s new Enhanced CPD scheme regulations.

Enhanced CPD outcomes

In the enhanced CPD scheme, specific standards for the dental team are brought to the forefront of CPD planning and activity through four development outcomes.

These outcomes encourage to link learning activity more closely to the standards and help you embed the principles further in your working life. The four development outcomes are set out below:

  • Outcome A
Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints and raising concerns when patients are at risk.
  • Outcome B
Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients; providing constructive leadership where appropriate.
  • Outcome C
Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice.
  • Outcome D
Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in you and the dental profession and put patients’ interests first.

Claiming CPD

Participants will be awarded a certificate for each session attended. Delegates will be scanned in and out of each lecture or workshop. There will be no admittance to a lecture or workshop five minutes after its scheduled start time. No attendee will be scanned out if they leave before the speaker has concluded their talk.

Event staff cannot scan or add you to a session after you have left the lecture theatre or workshop area including if you leave for refreshments or comfort breaks. If all possible lectures are attended, then a maximum of 10 hours* of CPD is possible.

Your certificates will be sent to the email address you registered with, up to one month after the show concludes on 1 June 2024, with a feedback questionnaire and GP214 CPDA Claim Form download link. Certificates must be downloaded within six months from the date of the Scottish Dental Show and should be kept in a safe place for your records.

* 10 hours of CPD is achievable by attending consecutive lectures or workshops across both days of the event, attendance is registered electronically and subject to terms and conditions.

CPDA at the Scottish Dental Show

We expect the education content for this year’s Scottish Dental Show to be approved for Continuing Professional Development Allowance (CPDA) which is claimable by dentists only. To be eligible for CPDA a dentist must attend more than one lecture in each morning or afternoon session.

Your certificates

If you attended previous Scottish Dental Show events, please note that certificates are generated automatically from the link you receive after the event. You must access this link as soon as possible and keep a copy of your certificates in a safe place by 1 December 2024, after this time our staff will not be able to provide records of your attendance.

An admin charge of £25 including VAT will apply if your certificates were not sent, or need to be corrected due to an error on your part.
