Ulpee Darbar
BDS, MSc, FDSRCS(Ed), FDS (Rest Dent) RCS, FHEA

Ulpee will be speaking on ‘Good clinical practice and standards in implant dentistry.’ Ulpee is a full time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and is also on the specialist lists in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontology and Prosthodontics. She is extensively involved in education and training at postgraduate level for dentists, specialists and dental care professionals. She has written the first book on dental implants for dental nurses. She is the Chair of the Advisory Board in Implant Dentistry for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She was the Clinical Director of the Eastman Dental Hospital until 2014 and is now Director of Dental Education for the Trust.

Donald Thomson
BDS (Ed) FDS RCSEd DDR RCR

Donald is speaking on ‘Radiography and Radiology protection’. He has worked in Paediatric, Dental Emergency, Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery posts in Dental Hospitals in Bristol, Edinburgh and Glasgow before commencing Specialist training in DMFR in Dundee and Glasgow. Since 2016 he has been a part time Consultant in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology in NHS Lothian, having been a Consultant in Tayside for 10 years prior to that. His primary role is CBCT and salivary gland imaging. He also works for NES, and was recently appointed Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean. He has been a Member of Dental Council RCSEd since 2015 and is an Examiner for MFDS, and for DDMFR at the Royal College of Radiologists.

Christine Goodall

Christine will be talking about the work of the charity Medics Against Violence in her talk ‘Repairing the scar on the face of Scotland’. Christine is Honorary Consultant in Oral Surgery, Vice Dean of the Dental Faculty at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Medics Against Violence (MAV)

Christine Park

Christine will be speaking on ‘Safeguarding children and young people’. She graduated BDS from Glasgow University in 2006, and completed longitudinal dental foundation training in Edinburgh. She then returned to Glasgow for maxfac and oral surgery SHO jobs before undertaking specialist training in paediatric dentistry at Glasgow Dental Hospital during which she won the Bengt Magnusson prize at the IAPD in 2011. Christine joined the GDC paediatric dentistry specialist list in 2012 and gained her MSc in 2013 for work on “Oral disease in Vulnerable Children and the Dentist’s Role in Child Protection”. She then completed 16 months of post CCST StR in Paediatric Dentistry at Guys’ Hospital before once again returning to Glasgow to take up her position as clinical lecturer/honorary post CCST in paediatric dentistry. This allowed her to complete her NHS consultant training while combining it with teaching and continuing interest and research in child protection by undertaking a part-time PhD at the Digital Design Studio funded by NES. Christine is currently senior clinical university teacher/honorary consultant in paediatric dentistry at Glasgow.

Helen Patterson

Helen will be speaking on ‘Safeguarding vulnerable adults’. She is a Consultant in Special Care Dentistry at NHSGCC and Honorary Secretary of the Dental Faculty at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow

Roger Currie
FDS, FRCS, FFFST (Ed), FRCS (OMFS)

Roger will be speaking on ‘Oral Cancer: Early Detection’. He is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon in Ayrshire, with sessions t the QE University Hospital in Glasgow. He has been a Member of Council at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh since 2010. He is Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, Clinical Lead for skin cancer in the West of Scotland, and a past Chair of the Scottish Oral and Maxillofacial Society.

Stuart Clark

Stuart will be speaking on ‘Medical Emergencies’. He is a Consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a Member of Council at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
